We shape already-cleared Wilmington ground for agreed access, elevations and drainage. We use a compact track loader with a grading attachment or other equipment matched to the finish. We define fill, compaction and where runoff will go before moving soil.
An agreed ground shape or development layout after the required clearing work.
Cut high spots and spread soil across already-cleared ground.
Fill agreed low spots and shape access or drainage routes.
Specify fill, compaction and finish requirements.
Our Grading Process and Equipment
Our process starts with the planned elevations and where water needs to drain. We match a dozer, compact track loader with grading attachment or motor grader to the access and finish. We cut high spots, spread suitable material and compact specified fill, with deeper excavation handled separately when required.
Sandy Ground, Drainage and Coastal Conditions
Cape Fear properties can include sandy uplands, wetter soils and low ground near creeks or marsh. We check soil support and drainage before cutting or filling. Rough grading does not certify a building pad or guarantee flood protection; those goals can require engineering, testing and separate approvals.
Land Clearing Questions, Clear Answers.
Does grading make my lot ready to build?+
Rough grading creates an agreed ground shape. A construction pad may also need engineered elevations, approved drainage, suitable fill, compaction testing and inspections. We define the handoff with the next contractor.
When might a land-disturbance permit apply?+
New Hanover County generally requires review for disturbance over one acre, additional work on a previously permitted site, or smaller work that forms part of a larger development. County Engineering also reviews qualifying projects inside Wilmington. We confirm the specific scope and jurisdiction.
Can you clear near a marsh, creek or wetland?+
We identify the upland work area and sensitive edges before equipment arrives. Land clearing or alteration in a coastal Area of Environmental Concern can require CAMA review, and wetlands may involve additional approvals. We assess those limits before work starts.
